The need to train specialists in the educational and professional program “Ethnology” specialty 032 “History and Archeology” at the Precarpathian National University is due to the current problems of national, cultural and state development of Ukraine. In the conditions of the onset of urbanization, standardization of life, leveling of ethnic features of many elements of traditional culture, the most complete study of the latter (both ethnogenesis and ethnic history) is of extremely important importance, since it constitutes one of the foundations of national identity. In this context, the Ukrainian Carpathians are especially interesting for ethnology, since they are distinguished by a high level of preservation of traditional everyday culture with its bright national features. Namely, this region is the ethnographic base of Ukraine, which is distinguished by a rich ethnographic specificity, Boykos, Lemkos, Hutsuls, Pokutyami, Opilyans, carriers of bright traditional culture and life live here. During the times of the independent Ukrainian state, there was a need for a systematic and in-depth study of the ethnographic regions of Boykivshchyna, Hutsulshchyna, Opillya, and Pokuttya. Therefore, such a comprehensive approach actualizes the problem of training specialists in this field.
