Every year, on the basis of a master’s (specialist) diploma and entrance exams, selection is made on a competitive basis to postgraduate studies in the specialty “Ethnology”.
Training is conducted both in-person (full-time, in-patient) and part-time (correspondence).
During their studies, postgraduate students master the methods of scientific research, take candidate exams and conduct scientific research in the chosen scientific direction of their dissertation. Applicants for a scientific degree at the Department of Ethnology and Archaeology take candidate exams in philosophy, a foreign language (optional), and a specialty (depending on the specialty in which the dissertation is being prepared). Those enrolled in postgraduate studies in-person by state order receive a state scholarship (graduate students enrolled under a contract are not entitled to a state scholarship). After the end of the study period, postgraduate students must complete their work on a candidate dissertation and submit it for defense.
The Department of Ethnology and Archaeology has been offering postgraduate studies in the specialty 07.00.05 – Ethnology since 2006. Postgraduate students of the department are engaged in researching the traditional culture of ethnographic groups of Ukraine, studying the issues of ethnographic activity of famous researchers in the field of ethnology and archaeology, and exploring elements of spirituality. Over the past few years, candidate dissertations have been defended by O. Kolomyychuk, T. Seredyuk, V. Hrushetska, and others.
